USDA ARMS Scholarship

First and foremost, when the scholarships are awarded, the funds are to be used for access to the NORC Data Enclave. This is a protected and confidential research database with very sensitive data. Winners of the NORC scholarships will be able to access the information from their own offices, for the purpose of research. This includes computer access to private and protected forums, blogs, wikis, and instant messaging with other researchers for the purpose of collaborating on research.

Those who win the awards must be attending or working for a University that is accredited in the United States, but may also be working for a related non-profit organization. The funds may not be used for expenses that do not relate to the program or project that the award was based on. Upon being admitted to the Agricultural Resource Management Survey (ARMS) Ag Scholarship Program, you must enter into an agreement of understanding with the USDA, and take part in a training program which lasts for one day, and is offered remotely. You must also provide regular reports of your progress concerning your research and share information with the community that is
established by the program. You must also agree to keep all of the information that you have access to confidential, and for each research project that you will be using the ARMS system for, you must provide a description of the program or project, as well as the objective of that program or project. You must also outline how you will use the data that you access through the program once your research is complete.

USDA scholarship winners are chosen based on complex criteria, including the research proposal and how it relates to the current research in the enclave community. If your University has never had access to this community, you stand a greater chance of winning the award.

Although the program is new, the deadline will occur in August of each year. There are currently thirteen other researchers in the enclave research community that is available through this agriculture scholarship program, and if you are conducting research in the agricultural field at your university, you should definitely apply for the program, as you will have access to data that will not be made available to you in any other way.

If you are interested in the Agricultural Resource Management Survey ARMS Scholarship Program, you must apply before the deadline in August, and provide all of the requested information on the application to be considered. The USDA scholarship program is unique and awarded to those who would only enjoy this special opportunity in agriculture.

USDA/1890 National Scholars Program

If you’re a winner of this scholarship in agriculture you will be telephoned first, emailed second, and only by US mail if you don’t respond by the first two notifications because Annie’s consciousness on paper mail & trees destroyed. In fact; you must apply online first and email your application to apply to the Annie Sustainable Scholarship in Agriculture. You must complete & sign the application form along with the required personal statement and email them to: scholarships@annies.com. The personal statement you have to send in is your own perspective on sustainable agriculture. You will be asked also to write on your academic accomplishments & work experience too. By March 10th you will be notified if you win. Annie’s ask that you not call to find out because of the large number of calls they already receive. Along with the above you must send US mail (below) to them your official transcripts and (2) letters of recommendation from someone not related to you who can attest to your commitment on ‘Sustainable Agriculture’. Not too many years ago, agriculture was primarily seen as a field for men. Times have changed, though, and many companies and colleges are eager to erase these stereotypes and help women to excel in fields related to agriculture.
Unusual agriculture scholarships for women such as the Mahindra 2009 Women in Ag Scholarships are designed to accomplish just this goal. Mahindra Tractors has developed an agreement with the Future Farmers of America (FFA) to administer this scholarships award, which is offered annually to four female recipients. Last year, for example, the scholarships foundation received more than 1,500 applications.

Each of the Mahindra WIA agriculture scholarships is $2,500 each. The selected winners are chosen by the FFA based on a number of criteria, including their academic qualifications, leadership skills, and their level of interest in and commitment to obtaining a degree in an agriculture-related field. The agricultural scholarship funds can be used to pay for books, classroom fees, tuition expenses, or equipment required for a class.
If you are one of the persons chosen to receive this scholarship in agriculture, the Mahindra Corporation does reserve the right to require that you appear with certain company executives, representatives, or dealers for company-related award celebrations. Additionally, the company expects to be permitted to use your name for media purposes, or in advertising or company promotions.

Sometimes, even scholarships for agriculture students come with a small price, and the price of this unusual scholarship is the potential for some public attention and interest. If you are strongly opposed to this, you probably should choose not to apply for this Ag scholarship.

If you don’t mind the advertising appearances in exchange for scholarship money, however, you may find an opportunity for personal or professional gain in appearing at one of these celebrations. Who knows, your next employer or manager may be scheduled to attend the event too, looking for someone with the unique skills and qualifications you have!

The Mahindra 2009 Women in Agriculture Scholarships applications can be downloaded and submitted through the FFA scholarship website. The applications for the 2009-2010 school year will close in just a few days though (application deadline is February 17th), so unless you already have all of the materials together, you may have to wait until next year to apply for this unique tuition scholarship. Don’t worry, though; as long as you’re still enrolled in college next year, you can apply for the chance to become a 2010 Mahindra WIA scholarship recipient!

How would you like to live in one of the most beautiful states in the Union while you pursue your dream of a career in agriculture? An obscure agricultural scholarship could lead you to Wisconsin, the land of cheese. You may not be able to actually grow dairy products but the essential ingredients for cheese, butt and milk manufacturing are all tied to agriculture.

In 1973 an anonymous donor gave $25,000 to establish the Fort Atkins Community Foundation in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. The key goal of the Foundation is to enhance life within the Fort Atkinson community. Many obscure scholarships are offered through the Foundation, including an agricultural scholarship.

The Ben and Ada Hake Agriculture Scholarship is awarded to graduates of Fort Atkinson High School. Lloyd Hake established this agricultural scholarship through the Foundation in the memory of his parents, Ben and Ada Hake. The Hakes successfully farmed in the Fort Atkinson community for many years and it is Lloyd Hake’s desire to encourage this tradition. By offering an agricultural scholarship in his parent’s names, Lloyd Hake perpetuates the industry that helped his family thrive.

Only graduates of Fort Atkinson High School pursuing post secondary agricultural related education should apply for this scholarship in agriculture. Students who pursue a one or two year technical school program in agriculture, as well as students pursuing a four-year degree from a college or university, are eligible to apply for this agricultural scholarship.

As stated above, only graduates of Fort Atkinson High School are eligible to apply. (A graduate of Fort Atkinson High School is defined as a student who has completed four consecutive semesters at the high school, culminating in graduation.) The qualified recipient of this agricultural scholarship must also graduate in the top one-third of their class. Financial need is also considered when awarding The Ben and Ada Hake Agriculture Scholarship although it is not the only consideration.

Good character and a strong work ethic are important attributes for the beneficiary of this agricultural scholarship. Confirmation of these personal characteristics is verified through two letters of recommendation. Community involvement, extra-curricular activities and work experience will substantiate the student’s personal values and traits.

Besides the two letters of recommendation, applicants must submit a written essay and official transcripts from the required educational institutions. The student will use the application form for the Ben and Ada Hake Agriculture Scholarship form when submitting this information.

If Wisconsin is your home state and Fort Atkinson High School is (or will be) your alma mater, consider the Ben and Ada Hake Agricultural Wisconsin Scholarship. The rapidly growing industry of agriculture has many different areas for students with all different interests. Farmers are only part of the big picture. Scientists and chemists are also essential to this business. Besides continuing the tradition of these successful farmers, your commitment to this field will enhance the community of Fort Atkinson. The Wisconsin State motto is “Forward.” This obscure agricultural scholarship from the Fort Atkins Community Foundation is the best way to live in the tradition of your state’s motto.

Many unknown agricultural scholarships are offered by Monsanto, maker of the “Roundup” brand herbicide. As an innovative company which employs over 18,000 employees throughout the world, Monsanto applies science and technology to help farmers produce healthier food. Any student interested in an agricultural career should look at the several scholarships in agriculture that this world wide corporation has to offer.

The Monsanto Commitment to Agriculture Scholarship offers 100 scholarships each year to high school seniors from farming families. Selected individuals for the agricultural scholarships receive a one-time award of $1500.00. Eligibility requirements for applicants include an above-average academic record and enrollment in an agriculture-related academic major at an accredited school. Membership in the Future Farmers of America program is not required in order to receive this agricultural scholarship.

Also available to students from farming families is the Monsanto Roadrunner Scholarship. Employees of Monsanto support this scholarship in agriculture by raising the money on their own. By running half and full marathons, the Monsanto employees fund at least five agricultural scholarships worth $1500.00 each. Applicants for this scholarship in agriculture must show an above-average academic record and must plan to enroll full-time in an agriculture-related program. The college or university must be an accredited institution.

Monsanto and DEKALB have a long standing relationship in supporting youth in agriculture. DEKALB has taken this relationship one step further to offer The DEKALB Ag Youth Scholarship. Established in 2007 by the DEKALB WingWear apparel line, 10 agricultural scholarships are granted each year. Both high school and college students who are pursuing degrees in agricultural-related fields are eligible to apply for one of the $2500.00 awards. The student applying for the DEKALB scholarship in agriculture should demonstrate leadership skills and be involved in community activities. The National FFA Organization administers this agricultural scholarship but membership in the FFA (Future Farmers of America) is not required. Applications for this ag scholarship are due by mid-February each year.

If you live in a cotton producing state, check out this unknown scholarship in agriculture. (Cotton producing states are listed as Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.) Offered by the cotton-producing company, Deltapine, this agricultural cotton scholarship requires the student to submit an essay of 500 words or less titled, “My Future in Cotton.” (An essay over 500 words will be disqualified immediately.) At $1000.00 each, the nine scholarships available are given to students interested in agriculture or agribusiness. Besides living in a cotton-producing state, the student should be involved in agriculture-related activities or organizations. Requirements for the agricultural scholarship also include a GPA of 2.8 and enrollment as a full-time student in an agriculture related program. Either a two or four year program is acceptable but it must be an accredited institution.

The above scholarships in agriculture are awarded through Monsanto or one of its subsidiaries. Family members or persons related to employees of Monsanto, its agencies or competitive companies may not be eligible to apply.

The applicant for this scholarship in agriculture does not have to become a soybean scientist or commit to becoming a soybean expert. The student must only declare agriculture as their major at any accredited college or university. The American Soybean Association awards the $5000.00 agricultural scholarship to a student who has shown leadership and who has participated in extracurricular activities.

Don’t let the idea of an ag scholarship from the ASA start growing just yet. This scholarship in agriculture comes with many specific stipulations and requirements that must be met before it is awarded to the student.

Only a child or grandchild of a current American Soybean Association or state soybean association member is able to receive this agricultural scholarship. If you do not meet this guideline, consider other scholarships for agriculture that may be available. Only one award per household is available during the life of the Secure Optimal Yield agricultural scholarship.

The student must also be a current high school senior with a 3.0 GPA (grade point average). ACT/SAT standardized test scores will be used to judge the student’s worthiness to receive this ag scholarship. That’s not all! Not one but two letters of recommendation must accompany the application and don’t forget to also submit a short essay of 500 words or less.

Besides the science of planting and harvesting the food, agriculture now refers to engineering food for fuels. More and more research is being done to find alternative fuel sources. Scientists are turning to farmers to help in researching and discovering alternative ways to use corn and soybeans. A career in agriculture has many possibilities nowadays.
